Cover Not bad Typical of Loose Id with the guys at the top and a scene at the bottom I like that these guys have clothes on MC s Daniel a librarian Ian an adventurer who travels the world seeking treasures for buyers POV alternates third person between themThere s a lot a lot of internal monologue going on here In fact it makes up most of the writing Lots of thinking reflecting planning And for me that got to be tedious Also it seemed like the author was trying very hard to be poetic but didn t uite succeed in my mind at least The entire story takes place in the course of one night as Ian comes to town finds Daniel at work and they go out ending up at the beach There is only one secondary character Daniel s co worker and she appears at the beginning of the story and very briefly at the endThe setting is some itty bitty town in California described with some detail but never given a name I found this irritating It s a silly thing but there you go Ian realizes he s in love with Daniel in Chapter 1 Daniel realizes what s going on not much later and sees that he has similar feelings and the rest is them figuring it all out They spend most of the time at the beach in the rain Thinking talking and finally having sex Pages and pages for the sex scene on the beach During which I can t help thinking sand everywhere in every crevice Seriously I kept thinking that and it bumped me out of the story repeatedlyFor me the best part is the discussionargument after the sex the first time with Daniel worried that they can t go from being friends to lovers that he s not going to be enough for Ian and Ian baring his soul to convince Daniel they can do it It seemed like when they were arguing the story was actually moving somewhere This wasn t to my taste Perhaps for those who like a lot of rumination with a bit of purple prose

I really wanted to like this story but it was a difficult read It was hard to tell who was saying what at times and I found myself backtracking to see who started the conversation and the back and forth after that I also didn t get a chance to bond with the characters as they were suddenly together I think I would have preferred for the story to start before this point in time so that we could build the relationship between them first before attacking each other on the beach A long sex scene lots of talk where I didn t always know what they were talking about was it just edited poorly It s not something I ll read again

Good worth a rereadview spoilerThis was not a book of actions but rather thoughts and hopes and dreams and desires There was a lot of internal monologuing and communication by looks instead of words I enjoyed it but I can see where the writing style wouldn t work for everyone As others have mentioned the very sandy nature of the sex was completely glossed over and the top down convertible barely given a thought until I m sure it was swimming hide spoiler
