characters Brødre i blodet ☆ eBook, PDF or Kindle ePUB Dagens enkle apostler Tilværelsen er skremmende men likevel til å holde ut i små porsjoner Og når Reidun Nordsletten trer inn på scenen ferdig besvangret og med et hjerte av gull gir livets redde gutter alt de har og litt ekstra Brødre i blodet er en sorgmunter bok om vaklende vennskap flesk og duppe hytte sex og surkålpoesi Men først og fremst er det en bok om det å våge seg ut på gate The setting Oslo two sociopaths who met at a rehabilitation centre on a mission to live like normal people The main character is Elling who has an overactive imagination and when his mother dies he is left completely incapable of taking care of himself He spends some time in a rehabilitation centre and then he returns to Oslo with his roommate Kjell Bjarne to start a new life as flatmatesThe synopsis was promising and I was uite intrigued and surprised to see Igvar Ambjornsen a Scandinavian writing comedy Being someone who absolutely worships the talent of the Scandinavians in telling stories through art films series and books I have to admit my high expectations prior to starting and the appetite was well and truly whetted by the prospect on embarking on a story with such prospectsIt didn t take me long to realise that the cultural trip that I had wished for was taking place but being taken to Oslo and not being told about noir or crime but comedy felt a bit uncomfortable However as an open minded individual I carried on with much anticipation The excitement was short lived The initial exchanges between the two characters were acceptable but certainly not sufficiently witty to amuse Neither was their idiosyncrasy not extreme enough to go beyond the innocence of kitchen sink humour of 1970 s sit coms and most unlikely to set the plot on fire with a Norwegian innocence which verged dullness The book is about a Norway where everything is a bit frosty and perhaps too still and linear to be considered interesting There is no real fictional depth to the book it fails to be even mildly interesting due to his pedestrian pace Fiction is personal and often than not misses the target but that the plot has to be at the very least interesting enough to publish Instead every element of the book seems compressed sketchy and beige the static storyline could have been a feature but the characters do nothing to complement it In the second half of the book I couldn t help thinking that if a 12 year old wrote a story like that I would have found it uite an achievement but I would not have advised seeking a publisher The back of the book reads A touching and hilarious comedy of anxiety from Norway s biggest talent after reading the book the only hilarious part remains this credit for stating that as uite frankly not even the pre puberty kids of rural Norway would find that funny Beyond the Great Outdoors doesn t disappoint it s just pointless Too na ve to bear any gripping worth and not cute enough to evoke the amiable freakishly fun that one may seek in Scandinavian literatureOne start for me If Ingvar Ambjornsen is really Norway s biggest talent then I sincerely hope his reputation is based on other works Wonder i små porsjoner Og når Reidun Nordsletten trer Cinematography inn på scenen ferdig besvangret og med et hjerte av gull gir livets redde gutter alt de har og litt ekstra
