Ian Cook ☆ 5 Read & Download Summary Ý PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB free ☆ Ian Cook Read & Download Redhead author Ian Cook A must read for all redheads and their admirers as well as fans of thrillers mythology and the supernaturalRedheads have always attracted attention desired envied pitied ridiculed even persecuted Now the sacrifices beginIn 1921 in the ruined city of Carthage near Tunis a. I know I m going against the grain here but I really really did not like this book I only struggled through to the end because I hate leaving books unfinished To be fair when I first began reading I thought I d really enjoy the story The location hopping aspect really appealed to me and I liked the way the story took place all around the world from London to Tunisia Easter Island to Scotland For some reason I like stories that involve travelling I get the same feeling whenever I watch the Bourne films Plus I thought I d enjoy the fact that the plot was centred rather a lot on ancient civilisations and mythology Unfortunately though no amount of globetrotting or info about Ancient Egypt or the Phoenicians could make up for the bad bad writing The book was poorly written and the dialogue was really cheesy and stilted I hate it when authors unsubtly have one character say to another And of course as you know before going on to explain really succinctly and in an over the top way some key point of the story all for the readers benefit I get that there are parts of the plot that will need expanding on or clearing up in order for the reader to understand what s going on but imparting the information in this way is really forced and unnatural Also no author EVER should need to have a character actually say out loud about a situation This is terrifying the reader should have already been able to work that much out for themselves from the description of what s actually going on and characters body language etc Having said that there wasn t very much description in this book The author s style of writing was very direct and to the point which I m sure some people will love but personally I like extra detail It s what makes the story for me None of the characters were that likeable which made it hard to care what happened to them The ending of the story was uite strange nothing really seemed to have been explained properly I was left trying to work out if it was actually setting itself up for a seuelIn the author s favour I reckon he put a lot of research into this book that much definitely came through while reading the problem is it s all cobbled together uite amateurishly to make a pretty dull story Maybe he d have been better writing a non fiction book on the mythology and stories that have surrounded red haired people throughout the ages

Mediocre at best painful at worst I was a little surprised how unedited the book felt until I checked the publishing company and it was actually a self published book Well kudos for getting published in a nice formatAnnoyingly this wasn t really what I was looking for in a book I expected a crime novel and ended up with a bit of a strange crimethrillersupernatural mishmash that was eventually just didn t scratch any of those itches There was certainly a heavy hand of plot but the characters were lacking because of the constant changing locations plot ideas and heavy hand of historical info dump If I was supposed to sympathise with anyone I m not sure who it was supposed to be they were all rather caricatured with particularly vile characteristics that appeared every so often and made them uite unsympathetic The dialogue was particularly clunky and downright ridiculous at points as were elements of the plot particularly at the mind boggling endingGuess at least I read it uickly

I won this signed book through bookreads at first when I decided to enter the giveaway I was attracted by the cover than by the book review I do pick my books by their covers if the cover is not appealing to me then I won t read it even when everyone believes is a great bookThis is a good book is not going to be a great classic but is an easy read nicely written and the details of the scenery are nicely describe At the beginning I was really excited about the characters and the plot At some points they are some details that seems a bit random however they are written in such way that you need to keep reading the book to find out what they meant and how this details affect the principal characters I must confess that by the middle I wasn t having a good time reading about Rebecca and her relationship with Jim But this is due to my animadversion to the damsel in distress role than to the book itself actually I can acknowledge how great it is and how Rebecca needed to be like that and how this romance plot between her and Jim was needed to make the twist of the story interesting and appealing to the reader It s a good read easy page turner and well written I like it and I m happy to be able to say that my copy is signed by Ian Cook D
